Confession #2841: I never assume children in East or West Baltimore are what they seem.
It's not uncommon in Charm City to see children under 10 selling drugs on the street, so take everything you see with a grain of salt. As someone who lives off of the benefit of doubt, I feel awful for saying that, but I've lived here too long and have read too many headlines. It is for this reason, then, this photo means a lot to me, with the shuttered church, the young mother and her little boy, undoubtedly already wise beyond his years.
