I'm back! I was going through some older photos on my site and realized how much I cherish my old Daily Photos from 2008 onwards. It's a tiny reward each day but the payoff over time is immeasurable.

Plus, doing this project was one of the very best few years in recent memory and I think that the commitment and creativity was a big part of that. Let's do it again!

We're out east! We flew in to stay with my parents for 10 days and we're already having a great time. My mom got tickets for us to see a performance of Handel's Messiah at Carnegie Hall. I have a long history with this place and an even longer history with this piece. I love it, it's a part of me and I'm honored to be able to enjoy it not just with my parents (again, as an adult) but with my husband, too.

Yes, whiskey.

We're very lucky that there's an amazing brunch place just a couple of blocks from our house. We've lately decided that even though we HATE waiting in line to eat in SF, sometimes it's just faster to go with the flow than figure out a plan B.

This adorable dog had his own mat to stay warm on while his owner enjoyed breakfast.

My wonderful boss was back from her trip and it is always just that much better when all of us from Marketing are in the office. To celebrate, we gathered in my office for cookies and conversation. I love my coworkers!

Another one from today: Girls' Night Out! We met up at the California Academy of Sciences, which does this after hours grown-up event with music, vendors and drinks. It was a ton of fun, full of indie shops vending at booths (the Bizarre Bazaar) and cocktails and, yes, walrus penis bones.

I gave my present early this year, because I am not strong enough to pick it up from the store myself and I needed help. I joked that it was a body (since the shipping weight was >150 lbs) and Trav was confounded, but it really was a steel tool cabinet. It's red. And, somehow, it fit just fine in the Mini.

I hate to say that a lot of my Dailies from December will likely be scotches, it the Advent Calendar was really a great gift.

.... like this one.

Ah, fresh black coffee the morning after! I'm actually not hung over but it is really nice to not have to clean, refill, scrub or stress about people having a good time.

Lunch at SmugMug. I love our family.

We'd had a mad hankering for pho and I knew there was a place in the Castro that had good veggie pho. So we hopped on the bike and headed over the hill... to find out that they were closed! WTF? Instead of making a decision we decided to duck into the bar next door, The Residence, where neither of us had ever been before and were pleasantly surprised. The cocktails were good, and we warmed up before deciding it was a great idea to walk over to the Mission and go to a different Vietnamese place for soup.

I tell ya, once you get soup on the brain you can't do anything but find soup. We found it, and it was awesome, but we didn't expect to walk so far in the shoes we were wearing.

But I love our unexpected urban adventures.

I have a couple of images from this day since it was a busy one and apparently the 12th wasn't that interesting. I did spring for a piece by BloodMilk, because I've admired her work for years and years. I figure I'm worth a treat once in a while, so I hopped down to my neighborhood weirdo store, Loved to Death, and got this one.

I'd just like to say that I messaged Jess at BloodMilk beforehand and was so pleasantly surprised at how super nice she is, and how quickly she wrote back. I totally expected a jeweler of her notoriety to be completely out of reach and too busy for normal folks like us. How wrong I was!

Today was our first (hopefully annual) scotch tasting. This was just a small sample of what was brought. It was a lot of fun and I hope that everyone who came had a great time, too! A blind taste with lots of nibbles. It's awesome being the host.

So a while back I got some credit at Modcloth.com and I gladly spent it on some new duds. I literally have the same socks that I had in college, so I am one of those people who hate to let go of old threads and move on.

I have NEVER bought skinny pants before but here we are. They are, unfortunately, very comfortable. My husband says they look good, but he's a bit biased.

The boots are unexpectely, awesomely comfortable, too. And the sweater! It's got an asymmetrical zipper and a magnet to keep it closed. I'm throwing horns right now on how much I love it.

(And for the record, I used the 16-35mm lens, angled down a bit so it makes me look extra tall and skinny. Gotta love using optical distortions to your best advantage!)
